Job Summary/Description:
WNEM, a Gray Television TV station, is recruiting for a Investigative Reporter/MMJ. The WNEM Reporter/MMJ researches news material for television newscasts and all WNEM news platforms and initiatives. This includes writing and posting daily on all digital platforms and social media. The successful individual will furnish a wide variety of news content either working alone or in tandem with other field personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following:
* Generates story ideas, cultivates news sources and remains knowledgeable regarding places, events and people in the news, local and national. Contributes to our minute-by-minute digital news efforts on all platforms with web content, social media posts and live digital reports.
* Builds community contacts, Shares information relating to upcoming events, meetings or story developments. Presents stories via on-air, live from the set, live remotes or live indoor locations.
* Serves as community ambassador for the news department. Responds to concerns of viewers.
* Makes personal appearances on behalf of the station.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. At least one year experience in broadcast journalism. Experience reporting (MMJ) news at a commercial television station preferred.
