Job Summary/Description:
The Digital Anchor and Producer is a dynamic and innovative storyteller responsible for creating engaging news content across various digital platforms. The role combines on-air anchoring skills with strong producing abilities to deliver timely, relevant, and compelling stories to our online/streaming audience. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proficient in digital content creation, and passionate about connecting with viewers in the digital space.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Digital Anchoring:
- Anchor and present news updates, breaking news, and special reports specifically for digital platforms: website, social media, streaming services.
- Conduct live interviews and discussions for digital audiences.
- Engage with the online community through comments, Q and A sessions, and interactive content.
• Digital Producing:
- Research, write, and produce original news content tailored for digital consumption, including articles, social media posts, videos, and interactive graphics.
- Identify trending topics and develop creative ways to present them to a digital audience.
- Edit video and audio packages for digital platforms, ensuring high quality and adherence to brand standards.
- Manage content calendars and publishing schedules for various digital channels.
- Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and others to repurpose broadcast content for digital and vice versa.
- Monitor analytics and audience engagement to inform content strategy and optimize performance.
- Ensure all digital content is accurate, fair, and adheres to journalistic ethics and legal standards.
• Content Strategy and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of the latest digital trends, tools, and best practices in news delivery.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for major news events and ongoing coverage.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong college-level training in digital news production, with demonstrable on-camera experience.
- Proven ability to write, produce, and edit compelling digital content under deadline pressure.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, ENPS Edius) and content management systems.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, analytics, and audience engagement strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced news environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as news cycles demand.
• Preferred Skills:
- A working knowledge of live streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with SEQ best practices for news content.
- Knowledge of Michiana and community issues.
