About WMBF:

WMBF-TV is the NBC Network affiliate for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee regions of Northeastern South Carolina and parts of southeastern North Carolina. This Gray Television owned station was launched in 2008 in Myrtle Beach, SC and was built as a state-of-the art High Definition broadcast facility.

We broadcast 39 hours of live local news and weather along with NBC programming to 8 counties along the Grand Strand beaches westward into Florence, SC. We also use digital media platforms to deliver breaking news coverage to a fast-growing audience.

Job Summary/Description:

WMBF has an immediate opening for a weekday Anchor/Reporter to join our award-winning newsroom. Learn, grow, and work in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC. This position requires exceptional news judgment, high work ethic, and a team-oriented approach to winning. Previous experience is required.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Produce and Anchor our weekday Noon Newscast and Report for evening Newscasts. The ideal candidate will also have experience in investigative and research-driven journalism.
• You will work with the News Director and Newsroom leaders to produce day turns and/or promotable packages. It is also common for our anchors to field anchor breaking news and high-profile reports.
• Write and post copy daily on all digital platforms.
• Execute a daily digital plan tailored to your daily assignments and long-term projects. This includes posting to social media throughout your shift, identifying opportunities for live streaming on our website/OTT platforms/Facebook, getting breaking news, live and user-generated content into our newscasts.
• Understand our DMA and key target audiences.
• Must be a self-starter to develop sources, able to go beyond press releases, and enterprise content.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum two years of newsroom experience preferred.
• College degree in journalism or related field.
• Must have the desire to win and the ability to reflect on your work and apply feedback.
• A strong candidate will have an established and responsible presence on digital platforms, including station website, social media and OTT.
• Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television).
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), proven news judgement, ethics and integrity.
• Strong work ethic, organizational and leadership skills. Must be able to work quickly, make deadlines, multi-task and show composure, especially during high-pressure breaking news moments.
• Ability to work long hours/overtime, weekends, and overnights as needed for breaking news and severe weather events.
• Must be experienced in shooting and editing unique content.
• MVR check required.
