Multimedia Journalist / Photographer, WMAR

WMAR, the ABC affiliate in Baltimore, Maryland owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is searching for a Multimedia Journalist / Photographer. The right candidate will have a videography first approach to storytelling and will capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms. This person will also be responsible for operating various news gathering equipment, including, but not limited to, microwave live truck, video camera, and video editing equipment. On some days, the Multimedia Journalist / Photographer will also write, track, and edit packaged reports for air. If you're a photographer who is looking to get on-air, this is the job for you!

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms.
• Operate and maintain live equipment including microwave, satellite, and related news gathering equipment.
• Work in tandem with newsroom personnel to create and develop news stories.
• Receive assignment or evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
• Organize material and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Appear on TV in live or pre-recorded situations.
• Report live from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Associates degree in related discipline preferred
• Generally 2+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Proficiency with lighting and computer based editing
• Proficiency with live microwave truck operation
• Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to station's web sites
• Able to work efficiently under multiple deadlines on a daily basis
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Hourly: $30.92 - 31.25

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Maryland.
