Job Description
WLWT, the Hearst Television owned NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, is looking for a Sports Director/Anchor/Reporter. Cincinnati is a growing big-league city with a growing base of fans who love their teams. We are looking for a Sports Director who can break the big stories and move beyond the news conference sound bites. Our next Sports Director should consistently enterprise compelling human-interest stories and find the unique angles that will captivate sports fans and non-sports fans alike. The ideal candidate must be a true leader with a passion for sports, working with our talented sports team to create the most memorable sports coverage. The Sports Director will be expected to not only turn content for the weekday newscasts, but also plan coverage for big events and cover weekend sportscasts when necessary.

Job Responsibilities:
• In charge of planning sports coverage for daily stories and big events
• Delivers scripted and ad lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose
• Coordinates with news managers and producers to develop memorable stories and comprehensive coverage of all sporting events
• Crafts stories that go beyond surface details; accentuate unique enterprise angles and gain exclusive access to players and leaders in the sports world
• Develops a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information, and allow us to break stories of significance
• Will contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms consistently throughout the day
• Can juggle multiple stories and projects at once, demonstrates exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines under extraordinary pressure
• An ability to summarize information into easy-to-understand components
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
• Appears on behalf of the station at public events
• Ability to flex schedule, including working on selected NFL Sundays and major High School Football nights
• Travel required when necessary for coverage of big games or events

Qualifications Requirements:
• Ability to operate a news camera and editing equipment
• Can work in all weather conditions and carry up to 50 pounds
• Has a valid driver's license and a clear driving-record
• Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends

Experience
• Minimum 5-10 years of sports reporting/anchoring preferred
• Passion for sports required

Education:
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience
