Job Summary/Description:
TV6 is looking for a strong candidate to serve as a Weekend Meteorologist and MMJ. The right candidate will already have a degree or certificate in meteorology (or be actively working on one) and ideally have some experience with reporting. This person will report for three days during the week and do on-air forecasting during our weekend evening newscasts.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Produce and present weather forecasts that are accessible and viewer-centric for our two weekend evening newscasts on Saturday and Sunday.
- Serve as an MMJ three weekdays, typically one PKG and one VOS per day.
- Attend all required news and weather trainings
- Work to understand and utilize the station's multiple digital platforms to expand our social media, streaming, and CTV presence
- Have a conversational, personable presence on-air with the ability to present unscripted content
- Write content for shows, the website, and social media pages, especially during breaking weather events.
- Maintain a working knowledge of weather computer programs/systems
- Maintain professional appearance
- Represent the station positively at all times
- Work collaboratively with the weather and/or anchor team
Qualifications/Requirements:
- This person must have a demonstrated background in news and be actively pursuing a meteorology degree or certification.
- They must also be able to demonstrate a knowledge of meteorology.
- A command of the English language, spelling, and grammar is required.
- Personal appearances in the community and station functions are an important part of the job.
- This position is held accountable to on-air standards for appearance.
- An interest in digital storytelling/streaming opportunities is a plus.
