Job Summary/Description:
TV6 & FOX UP is looking for an Assignment Editor to join our news team. There's a heavy emphasis on writing and finding news stories for on-air and online. This person works hand-in-hand with the Assignment Manager, Digital Content Manager, and Assistant. News Director, and News Director.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working with Assignment Manager to plan daily coverage for reporters
- Generate story ideas daily based on timeliness and relevance to the UP audience
- Keep track of necessary follow-ups for stories we've already covered
- Write on-air and digital content when needed, utilizing AP style guidelines and impeccable grammar
- Maintain a professional and unbiased persona while interacting with community members on the phone, in email, in person, and on social media
- Maintain a professional appearance, setting a positive example for MMJs/videographers
- Occassionally edit short, on-air scripts and videos
- Call on breaking news or follow-up information for developing stories
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A command of the English language, spelling, and grammar is required.
- The right individual will have a keen eye for news and storytelling, with strong ideas for how to translate those stories to our different platforms (broadcast, web, social media, live streams, etc.)
- A strong grasp of the English language, spelling, and grammar is a MUST!
