Are you a versatile storyteller with a passion for keeping western New York informed? WKBW, Buffalo's ABC affiliate, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who can research, write, capture compelling visual content, and edit stories across our broadcast and digital platforms. As part of our dynamic news team, you'll have the opportunity to make an impact in the Buffalo community through your journalism skills and creativity.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Develop story ideas from assignments, news leads, and tips.
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
• Organize material and write stories according to editorial style and format standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate your stories.
• Edit videos for multiple platforms.
• Appear on television programs for taped interviews and narration.
• Deliver live reports from event locations and mobile broadcast units.
• Work cooperatively with photographers when assigned.
• Assist news producers in preparing newscasts.
• Collaborate with online staff to create multimedia stories.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in journalism or related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
• Computer literacy including proficiency with newsroom computer systems
• Videography and non-linear editing experience
• Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
• Experience with Final Cut Pro or similar video editing systems
• Proficiency in posting content to various websites
• Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
• Driving required. Valid Driver's License, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
COMPENSATION RANGE:
Hourly: $29.80 - $32.93
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in New York.
