Job Description
WKBN/WYFX/WYTV needs a weather ace to cover lake-effect snow, spring thunderstorms and a broad range of conditions in Northeast Ohio. You also need to be passionate about pioneering new content on digital platforms.

This is the perfect full-time opportunity for a meteorologist from a smaller market to get experience with a fantastic weather challenge or for a new graduate to land their first on-air job. This is a full-time weather position focused on forecasting and telling weather stories.

We're looking for someone with, or working on, a meteorology-related degree, who believes in active weathercasting, generating your own forecast, tracking down to the street level and being first with breaking weather.

This meteorologist will forecast for the weekend evening newscasts and multiple digital platforms. During the week, you will tell creative and engaging weather stories for our digital platforms, you could fill in for meteorologists on our 3 network affiliated stations or produce weather. This job will teach it all and help you grow. You have a chance to get feedback and coaching from experienced meteorologists and news managers.
Our news team produces 11 hours of live news every weekday on 3 network affiliates: WKBN (CBS), WYTV (ABC) & WYFX (FOX) every weekday and 4 ½ hours each weekend day. We have 3 Baron Lynx workstations, 2 studios, 2 control rooms, and 2 sets of anchor teams.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Produce and report weather stories across all media platforms.
• Present live weather reports from the station as well as in the field.
• Produce creative weather stories and update forecast information on station website.
• Develop innovative and creative ways of presenting the daily weather story.
• Create maps and graphics to illustrate weather conditions.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
• Understand importance of social media.
• Proficiency with WSI or Baron weather systems.
• Detail oriented.

Education/Experience: At least one year of on-air television experience in forecasting and presenting weather. Meteorology-related degree preferred.

Training/Equipment:
Operate Baron Lynx, Weather Company/WSI, and/or ChyronHego computer systems.

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements: High stress environment with deadline pressures. Some travel may be required. Position requires work on weekends and holidays. Work may be performed in extreme outdoor temperatures.
