WJBF-TV has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Weekend Sports Anchor / Weekday Sports Reporter to join our team in the Golf Capital of the World! In addition to our extensive coverage of the Masters Tournament each spring, we are also the market leader in high school sports coverage, including Football Friday Night, our award winning-half hour high school football highlight show each Friday night in the fall. If you love college football, WJBF covers the reigning national champion University of Georgia Bulldogs, as well as perennial power Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech. We are a two-hour drive from the World Series champion Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers, not to mention the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.

Skills and Experience:
• A self-starter and who can generate his or her own story ideas on a daily basis Ability to demonstrate enterprise sports reporting and creativity in storytelling
• Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to maintain an active social media presence to build your brand and solicit original story ideas
• Excellent shooting and editing abilities (preferably using Adobe Premiere Pro)
• Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms
• Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming and other content
• Responds to breaking sports events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required
• Works closely with the sports team to develop comprehensive sports coverage
• Participates in promotional activities including public appearances
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
• Sets up, composes and executes video shots
• Maintains video equipment
• Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content
• Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
• Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Previous anchoring experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related subject is preferred.
• Previous experience working in a team environment is a must.
• Ability to work on deadline
• Attention to detail
• Comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activities
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Superior on-air presence
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

As part of Nexstar nation, your work could be seen across the country on the largest network of local stations in the US, not to mention NewsNation, Nexstar's national cable news network. We are looking for someone who can break news on-air and online, but also tell memorable personal stories of the athletes in our area. The ideal candidate will be required to produce daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet and social networks, along with performing other duties as assigned by the sports director and news managers. It is important to have strong writing skills and to have knowledge of ALL sports.
