Job Summary/Description:
The Content Producer/MMJ position performs the duties of a Content Producer or Multimedia Journalist, as assigned by management. The Content Producer assists with the daily flow of news to the newsroom for appropriate coverage both on-air and on the station's digital platforms. The Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) researches, writes, reports, may have limited anchor duties, shoots video, and edits news material for television newscasts and all news platforms, including digital and smartphones.
The Content Producer/MMJ position performs the duties of a Content Producer or Multimedia Journalist, as assigned by management.
The Content Producer assists with the daily flow of news to the newsroom for appropriate coverage both on-air and on the station's digital platforms.
The Content Producer:
• Gathers meaningful news information from various sources. They also generate story ideas, discern credible news tips, schedule news crews and take in live feeds.
• Responsible for creating content that is aligned with and enhances the station brand.
• Responsible for publishing content on multiple digital platforms, including mobile and online and social networks.
• This person should have solid news judgment, a sound grasp of online journalism and a sense of urgency for breaking news.
• This is a high-pressure, deadline-focused position, which requires a self-starter, who is flexible and has the ability to multitask.
The Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) researches, writes, reports, may have limited anchor duties, shoots video, and edits news material for television newscasts and all news platforms, including digital and smartphones.
• Work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital, and social media.
• Create a wide variety of news content either working alone or in tandem with other field personnel.
• Coordinates with the Content Center/Assignment Desk and team of multimedia producers.
• Contributes live shots.
• Represent the station in a public professional and courteous manner
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
One to two years producing or production support experience for a television, cable, or college station.
