Job Description

Digital Enterprise Reporter

WFLA.com/News Channel 8 in Tampa is looking for an experienced journalist with a track record of impactful, enterprise reporting. The digital reporter should be an energetic, creative, and innovative writer who produces sharable content designed to drive traffic to our websites.

Digital reporters need the ability to multi-task -- balancing multiple stories while creating content for social media. The ideal candidate will think outside-the-box to craft stories with a unique presentation. We're looking for a writer with a voice: someone who can cut through the clutter and noise.

Candidates should have strong grammatical skills with a demonstrated ability to edit and self-edit. Experience writing for an online audience and knowledge of AP style is a plus. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with content management systems and SEO.

8 On Your Side has a proud tradition of advocating for our audience and asking the questions that they want answered. We are seeking a passionate storyteller who wants to create innovative, memorable multi-platform journalism in America's 11th-largest media market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a history of breaking local stories of importance. Must have experience producing multimedia stories and capable of generating photos, videos and infographics. Applicants should provide a portfolio of such examples.

This is not an entry-level position. Required experience includes journalism degree and 2+ years reporting for a print or online newsroom, as well as expertise with CMS workflow, digital storytelling tools and the FOIA process. Must have a track record of effective collaboration with colleagues and cultivating sources to break news and generate story ideas.
