Job Summary/Description:
WFIE dominates news and weather in the Tri-State, and now we are looking for a weekend evening anchor here in Evansville, Indiana, who can help us grow that lead into the future. We are looking for a strong, engaged, animated communicator who can mesh with our incredible team.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Anchoring/ producing all weekend newscasts
- Serving in a leadership role, assisting in weekend decisions
- Collaborating and assisting with the weekend team with the acquisition, treatment, and writing of news content
- Researching, gathering, writing, and editing news stories for on-air and online
- Writing in a clear, concise, conversational manner
- Possessing excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skills
- Reporting ''live'' on the scene during breaking news or weather
- Report on special projects as assigned
- Developing and maintaining sources of information
- Demonstrating sound news judgment
- Mentoring other Team members
- Utilizing non-linear editing equipment
- Participating in story selection meetings
- Attending/hosting/speaking at schools, and community events
- Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social media
- Following clothing and appearance guidelines set by news management
- Learning a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned
- Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure
- Maintaining professional and ethical conduct in the station and in the community
- Maintaining a positive work atmosphere
- Staying current with national and local news/weather
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Candidate must be a motivated team player with a great attitude.
- A successful candidate must be a strong writer, have a deep understanding of a story's context, and have a strong news judgment.
- A successful candidate will thrive in breaking news reporting and producing.
- You must be very comfortable with leadership and change, with the ability to guide reporters on their news coverage.
