Job Summary/Description:

WFSB is looking for a general assignment reporter who can do it all: jump on breaking news, whip up smart and engaging stories, pressure institutions to answer tough questions, and deliver compelling profiles. We're looking for a team player - a candidate who can range widely across topics related to what we do best, local news. This reporter will excel at uncovering stories and should come with enterprising hard news ideas, while being eager to take on daily assignments.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:

Ability to blend words and video into interesting and informative television news stories
Must possess advanced understanding of legal and ethical issues impacting journalism
Advanced knowledge of the locale, governing bodies, demographics and public figures
Ability to perform quality work in high-pressure deadline situations
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must possess valid Driver's License
Experience using newsroom computer systems
Ability to work a flexible work schedule and work as a member of a team
Must possess advanced understanding of newscast presentation, live and recorded
Must possess excellent writing and graphics skills with ability to provide an interesting and substantive product
Must be results oriented
Ability to focus on coordination of daily and long-range segments from first contact to on-air product
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a creative, fast paced environment
Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure
Must be able to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously
Previous experience with script writing and editorial experience preferred

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education – Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field or equivalent training and/or experience

Experience – Three year experience in broadcast journalism preferred. Experience reporting news and/or newscast producing at a commercial television station preferred
