Job Description
WESH 2/CW18, the Hearst Television station in the Orlando market, is looking for a News Operations Manager who thrives on winning the big story across all platforms. We go wherever the big story takes us and dedicate the right resources to provide the best coverage for our audience. We are looking for an innovator and take-charge leader who can organize logistics for breaking news, daily coverage, and major projects.

Job Responsibilities:
• Organize logistics and planning for big events, special reports, and investigative assignments.
• Help plan and execute multiplatform programming, including on-site productions and field productions.
• Work closely with our engineering department on newsgathering and production logistics.
• Work with the Engineering Department on maintenance and upkeep of our news technology assets. Manage a fleet of satellite trucks, microwave trucks, TVUs, ENG helicopters, media encoders and servers.
• Primary camera operator for Chopper 2.
• Shooting and editing of VOs, VO SOTs and packages for Broadcast Air and Digital via Sony XD Cam, GoPro, iPhone, and Adobe Premiere.
• Partner with First Warning Meteorologists to cover severe weather in our mobile Weather Lab.
• Knowledge of acquisitions and receive sites.
• Consultant on equipment needed for news department.
• Manage newsroom iPhones and MiFis.
• Identify and implement new technology to advance our storytelling across all platforms.
• Foster an inclusive culture, encouraging collaboration and discussion to enterprise content in our diverse community.

Experience Requirements:
• At least five years of newsroom experience, including some leadership experience.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess broad understanding of broadcast operations and equipment.
• Work cohesively to execute strategic goals as part of the leadership team.

Qualifications Requirements:
• Efficient operation on Satellite and ENG trucks
• Demonstrate superb organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work flexible hours
• College degree in Journalism or related field preferred, or related experience
• Bilingual experience is a plus.
• Drone certified pilot or drone experience is a plus.
• Military DINFOS experience will be considered.
