Job Summary/Description:

WECT News in Wilmington, NC has an immediate opening for a producer/videographer. Daily duties would include (no limitation to) writing and producing for TV newscasts, and gathering, shooting, and editing news video and information for presentation on TV and Digital platforms. The successful candidate will be an excellent writer with solid videography and non-linear editing skills. The applicant should have strong initiative, work well independently and with others, and have the ability to work quickly with attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities would include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Fill-in produce as needed
• Shoot and edit video, as well as gather and write news information, for TV and digital platforms
• Computer knowledge including newsroom software (ENPS), Microsoft applications and Internet use
• Pitch stories and conduct interviews
• Help with special projects, talent shoots, and live shots as needed
• Demonstrate strong editorial judgment while following journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a collaborative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
• Be able to work well under strict deadline pressure
• Flexibility to work varied shifts when necessary, including overnights and weekends
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
• A background in journalism and communications with strong writing skills preferred
