Job Description
Sports MMJ - WCTV

About WCTV:

Tallahassee is a thriving sports market, and our viewers are hungry for sports journalism both on-air and online. FSU, FAMU, VSU, UF and UGA are core drivers-- and not just football. There are countless men's and women's sports we cover. We also prioritize stories from our local high schools, showcasing the hundreds of talented young athletes in our viewing area including our famous Football Friday Night, and Full Court Friday. This position goes beyond obligatory news and highlights with a drive for on-demand and dynamically produced content on-air and online that feels as big as the passion of our market.

The right candidate will be able to work closely with the Sports Director and news managers to think outside of the box and dream big. Our primary goal is to build a team of sports journalists who thrive on story-telling, and fight for opportunities to break news and tell lead stories live at the top of our newscasts. This includes producing hyperlocal, people-centered, visually-dynamic, packaged sports stories. You'll also be expected to break news on digital and social before you go on-camera.

Job Summary/Description:

WCTV, the dominant #1 CBS Affiliate in Tallahassee, is searching for our next SPORTS REPORTER/MMJ. This is an opportunity to grow as a sports journalist in a well-established newsroom, working side-by-side with award-winning journalists. We believe in big, showcased coverage on our broadcast and digital platforms. Give our live stream a watch before you apply, you'll see what we mean.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Shoot & edit daily sports content for multiple newscasts and digital properties as an MMJ
- Develop and grow sources to effectively report and break sports news with local high school, college, and regional professional teams

- Demonstrate a working knowledge of ACC, SWAC and SEC players and coaches
- Contribute to and help grow the digital presence of WCTV Sports
- Anchor sports on weekend evenings
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
