Job Summary/Description:
Gray Media is looking for our next producer/videographer for our Florida Capitol Bureau. This position is based in Tallahassee, with reports also airing in Sarasota, Panama City, and Gainesville. To qualify, you must demonstrate that you possess experience and willingness to cover stories of statewide interest, with a focus on the legislative session. The producer/videographer works closely with our bureau chief and station news managers to develop, pitch, and produce stories that often gain national attention.
Duties/Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in daily editorial meetings and sharing statewide story pitches.
- Researching and keeping up with legislative issues.
- Communicating with lawmakers and other newsmakers to arrange interviews and obtain information for stories.
- Ability to shoot video with newsroom cameras.
- Working with the bureau chief to help shoot, write, edit, and produce content.
- The right candidate may have on-air opportunities with coaching.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- An internship in a commercial newsroom
- Knowledge of video editing and scripting software
- Working knowledge of web and social platforms
- Ability to travel regionally and nationally
