Job Summary/Description:
Live 5 News in Charleston, South Carolina, is looking for a dynamic, creative storyteller to serve as a weekend anchor and weekday MMJ in our sports department. If you are just looking to give play-by-play at the desk, this is not the job for you. We are looking for innovators who want to tell sports stories that matter to every viewer. You will cover games, but we want someone who can make a connection with the players, the coaches, and the fans, creating sports-centered pieces that reach a broader audience.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Weekend sports anchor who will shoot, edit, and write packages during the week.
• Played a big role in the Friday Night Lights show focused on high school football.
• Must be flexible with schedule.
• Post regular content on our website and other digital platforms.
• Responsible for extra content for our streaming platforms and our sports app.
• Some travel is required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• At least two years of on-air experience in a professional newsroom as a news or sports MMJ
• Strong on-air presence
• Knowledgeable of college and professional sports.
• A resume reel of your work is required for consideration. (Not a TikTok or Instagram reel)
