Job Summary/Description:

Live 5 is looking for a Breaking News Anchor/ MMJ for our Emmy award winning morning newscast. News moves at the speed of light in the Charleston market. Our next first alert anchor should be a strong reporter who thrives on breaking news. The breaking news anchor is the primary fill in for our morning news anchors. After our morning show ends, our breaking news anchor will be an integral part of our investigative team, turning hard news promotable stories for our newscast. This position isn't expected to do day turn reporting, but needs to be a strong journalist who can enterprise hard news content.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
- Tracking breaking news on the local, regional and national level
- Live reporting from our first alert center
- Shooting, writing & editing hard news promotable stories for evening newscasts
- Fill in anchoring as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

Ideal candidate should have at least two years' experience as an MMJ for a broadcast news station or news website. The successful applicant's background must include, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field. You must be a self-starter, with knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as website publishing and social media.
