Job Summary/Description:
WBTV is looking for an inspired, resourceful producer who works well with a team of talented professionals to create compelling newscasts through thoughtful story selection and placement, impactful writing, and effective showcasing. The successful candidate is a skilled communicator who writes for the ear and produces for the eye. Excellent time management skills are a must, as well as strong decision-making skills and attention to detail. A demonstrated understanding of the relationship between broadcast and digital/ streaming/ social media platforms is a huge plus.
Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Line produce one-hour live newscast daily
- Select content and write scripts
- Write and format scripts
- Coordinate with digital producers and anchors on cross-platform content
- Communicate with anchors, assignment desk, field crews, editors, and others to ensure execution of a high-quality newscast
- Produce live breaking news and special event coverage
- Fill in on other day parts as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 2 years experience as a line producer
- Experience producing with multiple live sources
- Excellent writing, showcasing, time management skills required
- Must exhibit understanding of broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms in a local news context
