Job Summary/Description:
WBTV is looking for an experienced Executive Producer with a proven track record of effective team leadership and ratings success. The ideal candidate is able to inspire and coach a team of journalists involved in our nightside newscasts. The EP will be an aggressive breaking news leader with creative problem-solving abilities. They will be a member of the news management team and will work to develop and execute key newsroom initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Lead a team of talented producers in daily editorial decision-making and content creation
• Lead editorial discussions, review rundowns, and edit scripts for accuracy and clarity
• Develop coverage plans as assigned
• Keep producers engaged and enriched through consistent, constructive feedback, and training
• Develop short-term action plans to accomplish strategic goals
• Collaborate with news leadership team to execute a multi-platform content strategy
• Act as an advocate between producers and marketing, technology, and other departments as needed
• Manage producer schedules and show assignments
• Assist with the hiring of employees
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
• Minimum 5 years of line producing experience
• Minimum of 2 years in a news leadership role
• Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts
• Must have excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
