Job Summary/Description:

WBRC Fox6 News is looking for a newscast video editor. He/she will be responsible for editing video for the newscasts, preparing video from various feed sources for air, as well as producing dynamic and engaging opens and teases.

An ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates well in a team environment and has strong communication skills. In this role you play a key part in creating engaging video content, which airs on WBRC Fox6 News, our websites, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Being passionate and knowledgeable of Central Alabama, news ethics, and current events is a major plus, and we welcome your ideas and creativity.

Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
- Edit raw video quickly and efficiently into a finished product maintaining the premium standards of our brands.
- Source assets needed from provided scripts for use in editing video content.
- Make improvements in color and audio for content finishing.
- Receive feedback and address notes for final approval.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of computer editing systems, software and related equipment as well as creative concepts of editing composition with ability to learn and apply new and advanced technology quickly.
- Must be skilled in color perception and possess fine attention to visual and composition detail with ability to color correct video as necessary.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience at a postproduction or television facility, and/or in video field production.
- Competency with digital audio editing and mixing techniques.
- Knowledge of TV production.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective production team member.
- Good communication and the ability to exercise judgment given a script or concept and make decisions based on breaking news situations.
- Competent under acute pressure and ability to meet immediate air deadlines.
- Flexibility to perform varying, changing and multiple shifts, extended hours, and meet expectation of last minute work demands.
- Good organizational skills with attention to details.
