Job Description

WBIR, the NBC affiliate in Knoxville, TN, is looking for an engaging, experienced, social media savvy Meteorologist. Qualified applicants must have a meteorology or similar degree, at least two years of on-air television experience, and the ability to work in fast-paced, team atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have experience studying severe weather and will be able to use a broad range of technology. The ideal candidate will also pitch and generate weather-related stories for WBIR-TV and WBIR.com, while embracing social media tools for expanding weather coverage and storytelling.

Responsibilities:
• Gather and analyze weather data
• Present on-air with clear, concise, and interesting weather segments
• Build weather forecasts – produce computer form graphics
• Keep up-to-date on the latest weather data gather/delivery trends
• Pitch and craft stories for WBIR-TV
• Write & post stories on WBIR.com

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, Electronic Media or related field
• 2 years of on-air television forecasting experience
• Demonstrated experience in generating content digital and social media platforms
• Strong communication skills (written/oral) for on-air delivery
• Proven ability to work under pressure while meeting daily assigned deadlines
• Ability to interact productively & positively within different environments
• Applicable knowledge of multi-platform news gathering tools and resources
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
