''THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO REMOTE''

Your New Role...

We are seeking to hire a Lead Game Designer to nurture and advance the design vision for a new mobile game based on one of the biggest franchises in the world. The title is in-development with ample opportunity for ownership and impact. This role reports to the project Director of Design.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Goals → Concept → Define → Collaborate → Test → Balance → Iterate
• Create goal-driven one page system designs that enable peer alignment, quick feedback and iteration cycles, and leadership-level approval.
• Translate one-page designs into implementation-level detail to support collaborative cross discipline development with a focus on lean, elegant feature sets
• Understand and internalize the target customer(s), designing with their needs and satisfaction in mind
• Determine content scope and pacing models that strike the right balance of sustainability and support for a healthy F2P business
• Contribute to roadmap planning by identifying and pitching new game systems, content, and feature improvements
• Collaborate with IP holders to ensure brand integrity.
• Partner with a cross-functional team of producers, designers, artists and engineers to prototype, implement, and iterate on features that will delight our players and further the overall creative vision of the product.
• Provide incisive and actionable peer feedback with an eye toward fulfilling player needs, business goals, and getting the most bang for our buck out of development time

Qualifications & Experience...

The ideal candidate for this role has excellent teamwork skills and feels comfortable with a game design culture that includes and respects the passion and creativity of all team members regardless of discipline. We are open-minded, curious, humble, and validation-oriented. In addition, this candidate is:
• Comfortable at all levels of abstraction from high level vision to implementation level detail and keenly aware of what the audience or conversation warrants. Further, able to transform abstract problems and ideas into specific solutions.
• Imaginative and incisive in order to ''sell the dream'' of the grandest vision or the smallest detail and what it means to our player and/or business
• A champion of game design elegance, targeting the most impact for the least complexity, with a simplification and approachability mindset
• Ability to deconstruct market trends from a variety of games and confidently apply learnings and make improvements
• Expert at liaising with all disciplines including production, art, engineering, and PM, with a deeply internalized understanding of their different needs, how to communicate with them, and the specific natures in which they overlap with the discipline of game design

The ideal candidate is likely a systems design generalist with special or notable skill in ANY of the following specific subsets of design:
• F2P monetization
• metagame design
• game economy and progression
• combat systems
• social play and features such as PVP and guilds
• hero collector content design such as heroes, levels, dungeons, battles
• narrative systems and narrative writing
• event/liveops design
• quest design

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
