Job Title: Director, Digital Strategy and Business Development

A little bit about our team:

WMG's Digital Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for leading the global deal negotiations with digital service providers on behalf of Warner Music Group. We strike deals with global distribution platforms and find new business opportunities in hopes of reaching audiences, growing monetization, and creating value for our labels and artists.

Your role:

In this role, you will lead and support the ongoing efforts to strike global deals across the music landscape by using your analytical skills, industry knowledge, and ability to negotiate complex partnerships. The ideal candidate would be passionate about understanding the intersection of music, technological innovation, and an understanding of the global social and immersive media ecosystems as well as the evolving digital platform landscape.

Here you'll get to:
• Work with key digital partners to structure, negotiate, and execute global agreements, maintaining strong relationships while representing the strategic view of WMG within social and new emerging technology ecosystems.
• Continuous analysis of data from partners to understand key trends within the digital music space and develop points of view regarding partners for deal cycles.
• Build financial models for key deal negotiations with partners.
• Drive presentations to communicate findings to senior BD team and key WMG stakeholders (e.g., c-suite, label heads, etc.).
• Monitor and identify key trends in the digital media and technology landscapes for the purpose of developing new strategic initiatives and assess emergent companies interested in commercially exploiting WMG content and providing guidance to senior management.
• Liaise and work closely with WMG's data and research teams.
• Stay apprised of new technology and consumer trends.

About you:
• 6+ years of relevant work experience.
• Music and content licensing experience required.
• Strong negotiating skills and an ability to effectively build and manage relationships with partners.
• Experience conducting deal driven analysis and industry/category/company analysis.
• Demonstrated proactivity, executive presence, and self-management ability.
• Established record in applying innovative and data-driven approaches and structures to deal making.
• Ability to support team in development of financial and business models to evaluate industry trends, categories, different revenue streams or products and translate quantitative models and analysis into cohesive insights.
• Experience in deal sourcing and research, having generated and qualified leads for deals.
• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills and higher degree of attention to detail.
• Demonstrated self-starter mentality and effective organizational skills.

We'd love it if you also had:
• Consulting, content licensing and strategic partnerships with music, investment banking, or other corporate deal related or strategy/business development experience preferred.
• Aptitude for data visualization and data storytelling to create compelling data driven materials and presentations.
• Experience creating, presenting, and executing on new strategic initiatives.
• Established record in applying innovative approaches and structures to deal making.
• Excellent analytical ability, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MA, MBA)

Salary Range
$150,000 to $160,000 Annually

Job Posting Ranges are included for all California, Colorado, New York, and Washington job postings and 100% remote roles where talent can be located in CA, CO, NYC and WA. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience and business needs. The pay range is subject to change at any time dependent on a variety of internal and external factors.
