Subtitler - Translator

Job Description

Position Summary

Perform review, correction, translation and subtitling programming and break content in accordance with company standards and guidelines with quality, efficiency and timely basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform the subtitles review and correction produced by external service providers.
• Perform translation and subtitling for programming content (Movies, Series, Documentaries)
• Perform translation and subtitling for edited programming content (Movies, Series, Documentaries)
• Perform translation and subtitling required by dubbed programming content (Movies, Series, Documentaries)
• Perform translation and subtitling for short format content (promos previews, interstitials, featurettes, specials)
• Perform quality check of subtitles files reported issues. Adjust timing, length and format of subtitles as required.
• Perform subtitles files format conversion as required.
• Complete subtitling quality evaluation report for each subtitle files produced by external provider.
• On request provide guidance and training to new hired personnel.
• On request perform translation of documents, texts, written material.

• None

Minimum Requirements
• 2-3 years Portuguese/ English subtitling experience.
• Full command of proper written and spoken English and Portuguese with strong emphasis on grammar, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation for written language.
• Bilingual on both English and Portuguese, with full understanding of audio, essential to accuracy of translation.
• Proper academic background in areas of grammar, linguistic structure, and phonetics.
• Strong computer and typing skills.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions to perform this job successfully.

Desirable Requirements

Knowledge of French, Italian, Spanish or any foreign language. AA/AS or BA/BS

Experience on use SoftNi or EZ Titles subtitling suites

Physical Requirements

Work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
