Load Test Engineer

Job Description

The Job

As a Load Test Engineer, you will work closely with our engineering, infrastructure teams and product owners to provide testing services. Your goal is to ensure our streaming back end applications are capable of supporting peak traffic loads without a degradation in performance. Your recommendations will be focused on improvement/optimization of the code base and infrastructure capacity planning.

The Daily
• Develop reusable performance (load, stress, etc) test scripts and supporting test data
• Implement automated execution of certain performance tests 8pipeline)
• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement mechanisms to pull this data into test reports
• Analyze test results and produce summary reports for technical and business stakeholders
• Work with the development teams to identify and prioritize performance issues and improvements
• Perform ad-hoc, ''what if'' style performance test executions from time to time, to help with capacity planning efforts

The Essentials
• Completed Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related experience.
• 3 or more years' experience in a DevOps Engineer role is a plus
• At least 4 years of experience in software development, automation testing, and/or performance testing
• Development and use of back end load testing applications
• Skilled at scope planning and analysis of load testing results
• Expert Scripting in JMeter, JMeter/Blazemeter with experience in Python and AWS
• Grafana
• Use of back end testing tools such as Flood.io or Blazemeter Java virtual machine testing and diagnostics
• Infrastructure capacity planning for AWS environments.
• Understanding of web technologies (HTTP, SSL, Headers, Cookies, TCP, caching). Use of internal and 3rd party APIs in development projects

The Nice to Haves

Development or implementation of CI/CD pilelines. Following agile sprint development cycles using JIRA/Confluence or similar platform Knowledge of RESTful and SOAP web services. Linux-based container development with Docker and Kubernetes, with Jenkins/Koala/Travis is a plus
