The Job

WarnerMedia seeks an Executive Director - GBS Accounting & Administration for the EFS - Executive Management department.

The Daily
• Key role that will work closely with WarnerMedia controller to ensure proper accounting conclusions are developed and will work closely with GBS leadership to ensure accounting conclusions are understood, documented and implemented.
• Require close interaction and collaboration with GBS, Business Unit Finance, Line of Business, AT&T Policy and other Corporate Finance teams.
• Work closely to understand business needs, changing business dynamics, new business models and unique contractual arrangements to assist WM Controller in determining proper accounting treatment, document findings/conclusions and follow through to implementation for WM on a global basis.
• Responsible for ensuring that GBS accounting leadership is aware of significant accounting matters including changes to GAAP and partner with teams to ensure proper application of accounting guidance is understood and used in operations.
• Role will be charged with leading the WM Significant Accounting Matters and divisional Pre-Close meetings to ensure that material accounting matters within a quarter are identified, researched, vetted, disclosed, understood and implemented in a timely matter.
• Conduct business unit interviews to help identify and flush out accounting issues and work with GBS and WM Controller to arrive at accounting recommendations/conclusions.
• In certain instances, recommendations will require consultation with the AT&T Policy team prior to arriving at final conclusions.
• Help identify emerging issues through developing a close working network with all WM business unit teams (e.g., Studios & Networks, HBO/HBO Max, Sales & Distribution, News & Sports, International and Corporate.)
• Work with external auditors to ensure they are aware of the Significant Accounting Matters identified during the quarter.
• Work closely with AT&T Compliance & Internal Audit teams to ensure all internal audit findings are understood, determine best course of action to remediate and follow through on due dates for completion.
• Role will work to ensure all SOX documentation is kept current and will play a key role in evaluating relevance of controls as well as the quarterly representation process for WM.
• Work closely with GBS teams, and act as escalation point for statutory audit completion and budget.
• Will be the point of escalation for the territory GBS teams when assistance from home office is needed both operationally or with external auditors. Special projects including M&A work, integration of new businesses (or models), and systems.

The Essentials
• Typically minimum 12 years progressive experience including in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting environment and/or film studio, media, entertainment industry experience.
• Ability to research and document accounting conclusions.
• Ensures GAAP and SOX compliance across GBS teams.
• Deep knowledge in film accounting.
• Experience working in enterprise ERP system to perform research and info gathering.
• Successfully manages a broad scope of work, strategically manages work in light of GBS-wide needs.
• Effectively applies broad experience, intuition and expertise to make sound decisions.
