Avalanche, a Warner Bros. Games studio, located along the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, has been in the video game business for 22 years. Acquired by Warner Bros. in 2016, we are at the top of our game and in the midst of creating a new, open-world, single-player action RPG experience, set in the 1800s Wizarding World–Hogwarts Legacy! Avalanche, a division of Warner Bros. Games Inc., seeks an Environment Artist (temp) for the Avalanche Art Department. We are looking for talented artists with strong art foundations and functional technical skills. Applicants should be creative self-motivated problem solvers who enjoy collaborating in a team setting with other artists, programmers and designers to create an immersive game experience. The Daily
• Develop digital 3D models and textures/materials for console video game projects; composite environment scenes together with previously created assets; assist with lighting of those environments.
• Work with managers to plan work and create deadlines.
• Create high quality 3D assets to be functional for a finished game on time.
• Candidates should be prepared to do a work test in the screening process.
• Perform other duties as needed in a willing and cooperative manner (be a helpful team member)
• Proactively report to project leadership and collaborate closely with the Art Manager to identify project risks, team needs, and advise on best practices.

The Essentials
• 2-5 years' work experience in video games is required.
• High level knowledge of Adobe software: Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Technical and functional knowledge in 3D graphics with the following focus:
• Solid experience in hard surface modeling, shaders and rendering in Maya, ZBrush or 3DS Max, organic modeling and topology of environmental assets
• Material and Texture creation skills in Photoshop, Substance Designer/Substance Painter and Zbrush. Must be able to set up UVs, create textures and materials and apply these to 3D Models
• Experience working in the Unreal Engine preferred
• Scene assembly, materials, lighting, terrain sculpting experience
• A well-developed sense of color and composition is critical.
• Professional maturity, team player, while also being adaptable and flexible.
• Creativity/Continuous Improvement and attention to detail
• This individual is an organized, excellent communicator, with a demonstrated area of artistic expertise.
• Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent work experience in 2D/3D animation, graphic design or video games

Bonus Skills
• Understanding of PC and console development for open world games
• Experience playing RPG games
• Experience in other areas of game development
• Knowledge of Camtasia, Unity, Houdini, Perforce, Jira, CrazyBump
