Warner Bros. Games Boston is a Warner Bros. Games development studio focused on creating free-to-play games for mobile platforms. The studio is utilizing its extensive expertise in creating persistent online worlds that foster powerful social gaming communities to develop its hit mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest.

WB Games Boston is looking to hire a Director of Engineering for a new project team.

The Director of Engineering will report to the Vice President/Studio Head and will be deeply embedded with game teams, leveraging end-to-end knowledge of large-scale mobile games to create emergent experience from launch through years of live operations. The role will also contribute to player experiences outside the game, in creator content, community programs, and live streams. This role is an important part of shaping the studio identity and strategic direction, while having a stake in the public expression of all that is done.

The Daily
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability and measurability of the game
• Mentor a team of engineers and drive a culture of technical excellence
• Ensure the game remains successful and stable in a constantly changing ecosystem
• Address challenges and reduce technical debt and maintain product quality
• Engage in all parts of the development lifecycle from concept through live operations
• Work closely with the Creative & Technical Directors to establish and champion the product vision
• Architect, write, and review game features and tools
• Actively share knowledge within area of expertise and influence other related disciplines
• Build on the culture of inclusivity and growth through coaching, career management and mentorship of associate, staff, and senior engineers
• Assess new market trends,features, technologies and emerging techniques to stay competitive
• Develop processes to recruit, mentor, inspire and empower studio talent
• Be a studio leader, emphasizing player delight while building a healthy business

The Essentials
• Proven track record as a team lead with experience on at least five successfully-published mobile titles
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, at least 3 of which in an architect or technical leadership role
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or equivalent work experience
• Expert understanding of two or more general purpose programming languages (C, C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.)
• Extensive experience building and leading large-scale server applications in a cloud-based environment, including server monitoring, provisioning, maintenance, and live-ops
• Deep knowledge/experience with data architecture: SQL, NoSQL, and data caching technologies/in-memory databases such as MemCachedand Redis.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Advanced Experience with the Unity Game Engine
• Knowledge of the iOS & Android SDKs, performance tools, and optimization techniques
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced live operations development environment
• A deep love of video games
