Purpose of the Role

Reporting into the Senior Director of Operations, the Content Operations Lead will be responsible for Content Operations for the Korea business. The Lead role will oversee operational activities such as dubbing & subtitling, sourcing materials from third party licensors, metadata operations, communicating statuses of content fulfilment to broadcast, VOD or OTT (HBO Max).

The role will be the central point of contact between Content Operations and Warner Media stakeholders in Korea, supporting local content acquisitions and distribution teams for content operations related activities and support. The Content Operations Lead will also be the central point of coordination for the Content Operations workstream for HBO Max launch in Korea, supporting product and content teams across content and metadata delivery to the HBO Max platform.

The role will work closely with the Senior Director of Operations, as well as operational leads across Asia Pacific (India, Japan, Southeast Asia) to define the content operations strategy, and will lead the execution of the strategy locally in Korea. The Lead will coordinate with other operational hubs across Asia and the globe where content processing activities have been centralized.

With regards to localication, the Lead role will ensure timely delivery and processing of localication in accordance with company objectives, while adhering to brand quality and creative standards, and local broadcast regulations. The Lead must ensure all subtitling and dubbing functions work smoothly and efficiently while innovating to adapt to changing business needs.

The role will oversee a small and expanding team locally in Korea to support the operational activities. This team is still to be defined in line with wider business strategy. The role will be well supported by wider content operations teams across the Asia region, as well as centralized content servicing functions in the USA.

Job Description

CONTENT DELIVERY OVERSIGHT 20%
• Support acquisitions teams for Korea, managing incoming material deliveries, rejections.
• Manage onboarding of third-party licensors to deliver video, audio, subtitles and metadata into the WarnerMedia Content supply chains
• Track and manage content supply chain workflows for Korean content, coordinating with other Content Operations teams across Asia and internationally as required
• Support communication of content fulfilment to WarnerMedia stakeholders- Kids & Entertainment Programming & Acquisitions teams, Product team, Marketing, Creative Services teams etc.

LOCALISATION OVERSIGHT 15%
• Work with local teams and vendors to deliver best in class subtitling, dubbing and metadata translation for Korean content on linear and non-linear services, meeting technical and creative specifications.
• Work with internal teams and studios to effectively plan, prioritise and determine timelines. Track and manage end to end workflow to ensure timelines are met.
• Collaborate with local and international teams on preparation of creative briefs.
• Manage process for casting of dubbing talent when required.
• Manage and track SQC/VQC process. Oversee and manage any content supplier approvals.
• Ensure dubbed audio tracks are delivered via the appropriate workflow and that an accurate inventory is maintained.
• Work with affiliates to access existing localisation where appropriate, assessing whether such localisation meets WarnerMedia quality standards.
• Work with global WarnerMedia teams and affiliates to fulfill localisation requirements.
• Provide support to departments such as Marketing, Creative Services and Content Sales through providing dub tracks and translated metadata.
• Provide logistical input for new localisation projects as required.

DATA MANAGEMENT 15%
• Maintain accurate asset records (editorial & technical metadata) within the appropriate media and metadata management systems.
• Closely monitor localisation costs in relation to the localisation budgets.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT- 20%
• Participate in local vendor negotiations, raising localisation purchase orders, processing invoices and monitoring localisation budgets to meet strategic and creative goals while ensuring best market rates.
• Work with local teams on managing localisation vendor allocation.
• Effectively plan and prioritize requests to localisation vendors per material availability, Monthly Program Schedules and Yearly Programming calendars.
• Provide instructions to vendors on appropriate SOPs and workflows, and ensure these are adhered to.
• Liaise with vendors and other parties to provide guidance and support in resolving technical, translation and compliance issues.

COMMUNICATIONS 10%
• Communicate & liaise with local, regional and international teams, external vendors and distributors/licensors to ensure clear understanding is maintained across all parties.

TEAM MANAGEMENT 15%
• Oversee and grow the team in Korea across content operations (metadata, content coordination, localisation)
• Oversee day to day work of direct reports and ensure all internal stakeholders have necessary information and training to work effectively
• Develop, motivate and lead team to adapt to business growth and opportunities.

INNOVATION 5%
• Work closely with local and international teams to develop, test and implement workflows and systems to manage new business needs as required.
• Explore and implement methods of improving and streamlining existing systems

Job Requirements

Essential
• Degree or equivalent experience in in TV / Communication / Technology
• Years of experience: Minimum of 8 years in Content Operations within the Media & Entertainment industry.
• Excellent knowledge of the Korea pay TV & OTT market, as well as Content Operations vendors and third parties
• Experience in Content Operations – media management, tracking materials and dealing with third parties etc., and minimum of 2 years of management experience and leading a team
• General knowledge of the technical requirements for broadcast media- video, audio & subtitle formats
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage projects, solve logistical problems and deliver on time
• Ability to manage and motivate a team
• Fluent in English – both verbal and written
• High level of communication & organizational skills, plus strong eye for details

Desirable
• General knowledge of the Asia pay TV market
• General knowledge of a core Asian language e.g. Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia or Bahasa Malaysia
• Experience in General Entertainment programming
• General knowledge of Asian OTT market
