The Job
Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Director, UK & Europe, the Talent Acquisition Lead is responsible for the acquisition and placement of top talent both internally and externally to support the growth of Warner Bros Discovery's News & Sport function across the UK and Europe (and Middle East for CNN), as well as managing a team of Talent Acquisition Advisors/Senior Advisors.
This role serves as a key business partner to ensure best in class attraction, sourcing, assessment, selection and onboarding of candidates for all roles up to Senior Director level, positioning Warner Bros. Discovery as an Employer of Choice.
The Daily
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Talent Acquisition (TA) Advisors across UK & Europe, responsible for setting goals for the upcoming year, discussing training opportunities and providing regular feedback.
• Allocate work and manage workload for your team to ensure maximum effectiveness. Provide day-to-day guidance on recruiting processes and offer creative solutions for challenging searches.
• Focus on operational excellence, ensuring the team deliver exceptional service levels.
• Be point of contact for escalations concerning News & Sport team.
• Mobilise the team around data integrity, ensuring the Warner Bros Discovery ATS (Workday) and Monday.com are updated on a timely basis to ensure accurate reporting.
• Build strong relationships, and attend regular meetings, with senior stakeholders and P&C Leads across the News & Sport business.
• In response to business needs, manage full-cycle recruitment, which includes but is not limited to the following:
• Lead kick-off meeting with hiring executives, to understand their business unit, department and position needs, and develop recruitment strategies to source, attract and recruit to fill key positions.
• In partnership with hiring executives, develop an effective interview and sourcing strategy, with an eye toward internal and diverse talent.
• Write engaging job postings to better attract target audience.
• Leverage tools to source viable candidates (Workday, Phenom, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Engage and assess candidates for company and position viability and present candidate shortlist that are diverse and representative.
• Partner with hiring executive on candidate slate from initial presentation to finalist selection, coaching them to develop new practices and capabilities with regards to interviews and selection procedures.
• Negotiate salary terms and process subsequent offer details.
• Deputise for Director, Talent Acquisition UK & Europe in delivering training, leadership meetings and presentations.
• Build and leverage network (business resource groups, professional organizations, function related events) to become an expert in assigned functions and continually grow and develop talent pipeline.
• Develop partnerships with external communities to position WBD as an Employer of Choice.
• Work with Early Careers to identify early careers opportunities where appropriate within News & Sport.
• Proactively support, educate, and advocate for internal talent.
• Lead on special projects that support continuous business process improvement.
• Work closely with Operations to ensure that a superior candidate experience reflective of our values is being adhered to across all recruitment.
• Keep up to date with News & Sport industry news.
The Essentials
• A wealth of recruitment experience, either in-house and/or in recruitment agencies, ideally with a European remit.
• Previous experience within the News and/or Sports industry, and strong sector network.
• Demonstrable people management experience.
• Able to influence hiring executives with regards to recruitment practice and selection activities.
• Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work.
• Ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
• A sense of urgency and pace with a strong customer satisfaction focus, able to build effective relationships and collaborate with a wide variety of individuals.
• An analytical mind, interested in analysing data and identifying trends in the market.
• Commercial - curious about the business and actively influences and contributes to discussions
• Willing to challenge and debate issues that matter
• Clear thinking - willing to make sound and prompt decisions
• Credible and results driven - able to lead major projects and change programmes.
