SENIOR WRITER– FEATURES TEAM
CNN is seeking an experienced Senior Writer to join its global features team.
We're seeking a writer with proven experience across business, technology, and travel. This writer will help CNN to maintain its high journalistic standards and ensure consistency of voice and tone across all output.
The successful candidate will have a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for first-class writing and storytelling.
Position Description
Working as CNN International Productions digital lead in Asia hours, the Senior Writer is a position that coordinates coverage plans and written features in the APAC time zone -- communicating KPIs and championing distinctive storytelling.
You will work closely with Commissioning Editor and maintain CNN's high journalistic standards by writing, fact-checking, and editing feature content that is balanced, fair and engaging to a global multi-platform audience. They will be guardians of CNN's editorial procedures and processes. They will work alongside Travel, Style, and Business colleagues, communicating editorial objectives, assignments, KPIs and campaign themes.
As a Senior Writer in the APAC region, you will also be our team's lead on Asia-focused news, business, and culture, helping to identify coverage opportunities and ensuring that our sponsorship proposals are regionally authentic.
The Senior Writer will educate other team members on writing engaging stories, regularly meeting with Campaign Strategy and Delivery Analysts and Programmers to learn and share audience insights that help deliver on sponsorship KPIs and the broader CNN Digital audience development goals.
The role will also ensure that stories are SEO optimized and built in a way that showcases the best of CNN's sponsored content. Also, the senior writers may be required to work with CNN's on-air talent to produce and edit written features for CNN's video output on the features team.
This position will collaborate with a cross-functional team across London, Atlanta, New York, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi. The candidate must be a self-starter, comfortable working on tight deadlines, and able to switch rapidly between projects in a fast-paced news environment.
The Senior Writer will occasionally manage the editorial and output of freelancer writers, setting objectives, overseeing their professional development and championing their work.
