Newshub.Newshub is the premiere news brand for Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ. We deliver world-class local and international news aimed primarily at a New Zealand audience across linear broadcast and digital platforms
Newshub's digital team is made up of news producers who populate the Newshub website. We cover every aspect of news, lifestyle, entertainment and technology.
Your New Role…
The senior producer role is a crucial part of the digital team and is split between sourcing and writing stories for the website and being the digital shift leader.
We're looking for a senior journalist with experience in digital news and broad knowledge of New Zealand news and current affairs - someone who is passionate about delivering that news to our audience.
In a senior role, there is also the responsibility of mentoring younger journalists, helping them improve their general journalism skills.
Responsibilities include…
• Write and upload news stories - ensuring strong video content is a priority
• Lead the curation on Newshub's home page during your shift - working with digital producers and reporters to deliver compelling content that delivers clear strategic goals
• Assign stories to digital producers and sub them to a word-perfect standard in line with Newhub style
• Intimately understand the digital audience, think creatively and continually strive for fresh ideas.
• Balance traffic, quality, tone and brand cohesiveness
• Engage with the wider newsroom to ensure amplification of exclusive and unique content across all our news platforms
Qualifications & Experience include…
It is essential that the successful candidate has:
• Tertiary level qualification or equivalent industry experience
• At least three years in digital news production and a strong knowledge of CMS systems
• Excellent editorial nous and broad knowledge of New Zealand and global news
• The ability to perform under the pressure of tight deadlines and in a breaking news environment
• Strong communication & organisational skills
• A firm understanding of laws governing defamation, libel and other applicable standards or guidelines
• The flexibility to work varied shifts and hours if required
• Legal right to permanent, full time work in New Zealand
