SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Are you ready to dive into the heart of the entertainment industry? Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Senior Analyst to join our Financial Contracts Reporting & Administration (FCRA) Deal Management department. The FCRA Deal Management department plays a crucial role in summarizing WBD's financial agreements with various stakeholders across films, TV shows, games, and other media. This is an exciting, fast paced department that offers a unique opportunity to explore the many facets of talent agreements and financing deals within the entertainment industry.
The Senior Analyst will be responsible for summarizing complex contingent compensation (i.e. profit participations) provisions in connection with actor, director, writer, producer, rightsholder, and co-financier contracts. Such summaries (i.e. abstracts) will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of WBD's reporting and payment of contingent compensation to such stakeholders. In addition, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for tracking new deals, researching contractual deal points, and conducting ad-hoc special projects and analyses.
Daily Activities
• Analyze, interpret, and summarize complex financial provisions from talent, financing, and distribution agreements relating to film, TV, games, and home entertainment products.
• Review abstracts prepared by other team members and provide feedback and training as necessary.
• Liaise with business affairs, legal, and other key stakeholders to ensure profit participation reporting is in compliance with contractual intent and applicable laws.
• Collaborate with various business units and departments within WBD to identify and track both new products and revisions to existing financial provisions for library products.
• Maintain status and workflow reports to ensure agreements and revisions are administered in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Perform and/or supervise special projects, analysis, and research (e.g. participant and auditor queries, etc.), including analyzing agreements, court documents, and financial statements.
The Essentials
Work Experience
Minimum 4 years related work experience required, preferably within entertainment industry
Previous experience with profit participations strongly preferred
Previous legal experience strongly preferred
Previous experience with contracts, finance, and/or accounting strongly preferred
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, legal, or finance related field
Law degree, MBA, or equivalents preferred
Knowledge/Skills
Exceptional English language comprehension – reading, speaking, and writing, including ability to read and analyze complex legal agreements.
Strong experience reading and interpreting legal agreements (experience with entertainment industry agreements strongly preferred).
Strong to expert competency with MS Excel and Word.
