Your New CNN Role...

CNN is hiring a digital-first reporter to join its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong – with a strong focus on US domestic news.

The successful candidate will thrive in a pressurized deadline-driven environment, covering the big, important stories of the day with accuracy and speed.

Working as part of a diverse, highly-collaborative team of digital-first editors and reporters, the news desk reporter serve as a vital link in CNN's follow-the-sun operation to ensure consistent, multiplatform coverage around the clock.

The successful candidate will share our insatiable appetite for breaking news and chasing fast-moving stories across time-zones, while helping to drive domestic coverage throughout the US overnight hours.

From civil unrest to natural disasters, you will respond in real-time to breaking events, providing valuable and necessary information for our audiences around the world.

In this role, you will gather and distill complex information from a variety of sources and have a deep knowledge of both US national affairs and international news, as well as an appetite to dive into new subjects and quickly get up to speed.

The successful candidate must have exceptional editorial judgment and demonstrated versatility within a leading digital-first news outlet.

The Daily...
• Working within a team of world-class digital-first writers and editors to deliver breaking news
• Writing breaking news with clarity, context and urgency in a blended multiplatform newsroom
• Comfortable switching between US and international news priorities, depending on needs
• Moving between different story formats, including taking the lead in delivering minute-by-minute updates on CNN's live stories.
• Working with colleagues from across CNN for multiplatform storytelling opportunities
• Framing stories and suggesting clever, compelling and accurate headlines to editors
• Contributing story ideas at daily editorial meetings
• Ensuring all journalism produced adheres to CNN standards and integrity

Qualifications & Experience...
• Minimum 3 years writing and reporting breaking news at a leading digital-first media outlet
• Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Deep knowledge, passion and interest for US and international news. A curiosity to keep learning, to think critically and a strong desire to make CNN's coverage reflective of the world we cover
• Perfect grasp of written and spoken English
• Understanding of journalistic standards and media law
• Self-starter with a history of delivering outstanding journalism
