Your New Role
The WBD Global Content team plays a central role in the coordination of the content finance narrative. The team accomplishes this by analyzing content ROI, partnering with content finance owners, ensuring financial standards and guardrails are maintained within the business unit and providing insights and recommendations to leadership to support decision making.
This role will support the Director, Streaming Content Finance in managing team objectives by using a strong understanding of the industry, business, slate and title economics to generate impactful financial analyses related to the company's content. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, management and review of the calculations supporting close, forecast, budget and LRPs for HBO/MAX titles, as well as the generation of content ultimates to inform management decision-making in greenlighting/ROI, production, intercompany, target/R&O management, distribution and participation deal-making processes. Key contact to leaders in Business Affairs, Participation & Residuals, BU Finance, Central Finance and Global Content Finance and interface cross-divisionally with teams across WBD such as Controllership, Sales, Content Strategy, Analytics, Research & IT. This role ensures that the team is meeting deadlines and workflows are running effectively.
Your Role Accountabilities
• Manage strategic BA/Finance initiatives and deal modeling;
• Partner with Business Affairs to ensure participation and residual obligations reflect the latest contractual terms and negotiations with talent; review and maintain participation and Residuals net accruals
• Review and key deliverables (i.e. Close, Forecasts, Budgets, LRPs) and ad hoc analyses (i.e. deal & slate sensitivities) to support leadership in reporting, Cash target planning and evaluation of strategic business decisions; Identify and communicate risks and opportunities
• Maintain and evaluate ultimate title ROI/profitability models (i.e. program costs, revenues, participation & residuals) through knowledge of title economics, historical performance, business drivers (i.e. slate, deals) and overall industry trends.
• Enhancements and ownership of data/systems (i.e. Hyperion, TM1, Oracle) and team processes. Proactively build out new excel tools, IT systems and processes to drive continuous improvements and optimize internal efficiencies
Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum of 5-6 years prior work experience in private and/or public accounting, finance, FP&A, consulting or banking. Previous entertainment/media industry experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related area preferred
• CPA or MBA a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, management and leadership skills
• Excellent written/oral communication and financial presentation skills
• Excellent financial modeling and Excel skills
• Strategic thinker and problem solver with high attention to detail
• Ability to delegate, multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced changing environment
• Familiarity with entertainment accounting and talent obligations including participation and residuals a plus
• Financial database experience a plus (e.g., Oracle EBS, SAP S4/SAC, Hyperion, IBM TM1, PowerBI)
