Overview:
Current Warner Bros. Discovery employees will be given preferential consideration for this opportunity. This position will be posted for five business days.
Oversees day-to-day workflow for team of metadata administrators. Develops and implements best practices and metadata standards for enterprise systems. Works closely with IT to develop and maintain tools/applications for metadata creation and content discovery. Liaisons with various departments to ensure business needs such as content retrieval, quality control and best practices are being met for all downstream consumers of enterprise metadata. Assists with taxonomy development, implementation and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
• Design, evaluate and adjust descriptive metadata standards for digital library content
• Manage daily operations for metadata team
• Supervise team members for adherence to metadata standards when applying descriptive metadata on short form and episodic video content. This could include managing metadata staff in locations outside of the US.
• Accountable for setting team priorities and ensuring production targets are met in a timely manner
• Create and maintain structured controlled vocabulary for tagging media content with the objective of improving retrieval and monetization of Warner Bros. Discovery's extensive content library
• Develop and maintain taxonomy governance plan for digital library content
• Own and maintain Enterprise Style Guide. Liaison with editorial boards across brands to ensure Style Guide is reflective of current best practices and standards.
• Develop workflows for requests coming from external departments, including all brand linear teams plus nonlinear content delivery and development teams
• Liaison to external departments to assess metadata dependencies and make sure all partner needs are being met
• Coordinate with various teams to resolve longstanding data quality issues and improve record management
• Develop and maintain metadata standards in partnership with downstream consumers of enterprise descriptive metadata
• Work closely with IT to develop and maintain essential tools for metadata workflow, creation and delivery
• Present the goals and strategy of the metadata team to outside departments
• Other duties as assigned, which could include managing work with images and linking recipes
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Media, Journalism, or English
• 2-4 years managing in an editorial/production/digital asset management environment
• Extreme attention to detail
• Exceptional grammar, spelling and editing skills
• Ability to operate and manage in a deadline-driven environment
• Previous experience with descriptive metadata, tagging, taxonomies
• Ability to work across departments at all levels
• Masters in Library/Information Science is a plus
• Previous experience in a library or cataloging setting is a plus
