The Role

Warner Bros. Studios Japan LLC, part of Warner Bros. Worldwide Studio Operations Tours and Retail Group (''T&R Japan'') is seeking a Counsel that will be responsible for handling legal issues and negotiating and drafting contracts for our studio tour visitor attraction and retail sales operations in Tokyo. Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs, this position will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to T&R Japan executives and staff in Tokyo. The Counsel will handle legal and business affairs matters for T&R Japan including negotiating and drafting all business-related contracts and maintaining government agency compliance including safety and environmental matters.

Role Accountabilities
• Provide legal advice, guidance and direction, reflecting sound judgment and substantive legal and business knowledge and expertise, to executives and staff, on all aspects of T&R Japan's tours and retail business in Japan
• Negotiate and draft a wide variety of agreements including operations, safety, environmental, security, special events, ticketing, marketing, retail, food and beverage, and procurement
• Respond to calls from and meet regularly with various departments, including Studio Tour Development, Retail Merchandise, Food and Beverage, Visitor Experience, and Tour Marketing, to resolve legal issues that arise with their respective teams
• Work closely with marketing group to develop and successfully execute marketing and advertising campaigns for WB T&R Japan
• Review new products, packaging, and marketing materials developed for the Japan market to ensure rights clearance and compliance with internal policies and applicable laws and regulations
• Monitor all relevant local laws affecting T&R Japan business, and inform management and implement changes where required
• Provide regular updates to and obtain input from SVP Legal & Business Affairs on all significant legal issues relating to T&R Japan

Qualifications & Experience
• 2- 5 years of experience at a law firm or in-house required
• Bilingual - fluent in Japanese and English
• Strong drafting and analytical skills – ability to interpret contracts and other legal documents
• Transactional and contract law experienced preferred
• Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required
• Lawyer admitted to practice law in Japan and in good standing
• Pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Strong negotiation and communication skills preferred.
• Strong project and time management skills preferred - Ability to juggle multiple and complex projects, agreements, and issues at one time as a team player for Legal and Business Affairs issues
• Worked in a fast-paced environment, responding quickly to legal issues that arise preferred
• Work well under time constraints, meet deadlines, organize, and schedule work effectively preferred
• Communicates effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels preferred.
