Job Description
The Role:

Newshub is looking for an energetic and dedicated Executive Producer to lead the production of Newshub Nation output working towards clear strategic goals to grow audience on linear and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the prodution and evolution of Newshub Nation conten t in 2024.
• Articulate growth strategy to Newshub Nation production team and ensure it is be ing executed across the week.
• Maintain relationship with Irirangi Te Motu/ NZ
O n Air and ensure regular reporting requirements are met.
• Ensure production spend is in line with forecast budget and keep in close contact with NZ On Air about any potential risks.
• Intimately understand the audience profile for Newshub Nation and identify key audiences for growth.
• Lead regular debrief s of output and critically assess decision making and team functionality.
• Li n e management of the Newshub Nation producion team and presenter.
• Work collaboratively with legal counsel and senior newsroom leaders to e nsure all stories are editorially and legally sound, and standards compliant .
• Engage with wider newsroom to maximise the potential of Newshub Nation content across Newshub's programmes and platforms.
• Play a role in weekly planning meetings to discuss roll out and treatment of different news stories
• Write and cut
Openers, Playoffs an d other programme elements to ensure they are enticing and interesting.
• Build rundowns for programmes
• Think creatively about the delivery of Newshub Nation output , continually striving for innovation and fresh ideas using all available production elements
• Output bulletins in the control room
• Sub reporter scripts
• Provide feedback to producers , presenters & reporters to help them develop their craft
• Maintain an excellent relationship with key personnel both within the newsroom , particularly our Gallery staff and in the broader Discovery ANZ team
• The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.
• Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
• Other duties as required.

Qualities Required:
• Tertiary level qualification or equivalent industry experience of 5 + years
• A passion for politics and strong contacts in parliament
• A proven record of success in producing television news programmes
• Experience successfully managing a team
• Ability to develop and execute an audience strategy
• Strong organisational skills
• Excellent editorial nous
• A generator of original ideas who strives to lead the news agenda
• In depth k nowledge of New Zealand news and current affairs
• Excellent knowledge of laws governing defamation, libel and other applicable legal issues
• Excellent knowledge of Broadcasting Standards Authority rules and guidelines
• Willing to take direction and also to encourage and advise less experienced journalists

• Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure
• Close attention to detail
• Understanding of and engagement with digital platforms including social networks
