The editorial department within WarnerMedia Studios works closely with the sound design and design/visual effects departments to create compelling, creative, and dynamic pieces including promotional campaigns, programming elements, and shows. The artists create pieces for broadcast, streaming, and social as well as internal and corporate presentations.

Working in support of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, the Edit Apprentice position is designed for a well-rounded, post-production assistant editor with a keen eye and passion for craft editing (video, sound design, and graphics skills) and a willingness to learn and incorporate feedback from other creatives. In this 2-year position, the edit apprentice will be challenged to further develop their creative, technical, and soft skills by providing in-depth assist-type support on various promotional and programming projects from ideation to delivery. While working closely with editors, producers, and other creatives, the edit apprentice will gain essential experience to develop a thorough understanding of the WBD Sports brand and workflows. Through practice, guidance, and mentorship, the edit apprentice will strengthen their creative eye, storytelling skills, and editing techniques to prepare for the next step in their career.

Your Role Accountabilities...

As a Sports Edit Apprentice, you will provide editorial support by:
• Assist in the creation of compelling short and long-form, multi-platform content for high and non-high profile promotional work, marketing, and/or programming for WBD Sports
• Execute assigned projects with some guidance from edit staff and feedback from partners
• Maintain informed knowledge of the WBD Sports brand and material
• Prepare projects for sessions (i.e., gathering, importing, and organizing media)
• Pull selects from WBD Sports content based on IDs, BROLL, sound bites, and specific requests from the edit staff and/or partners
• Prepare projects for audio, finishing, delivery, and archive
• Quality check and deliver media to specific drop locations for broadcast and digital
• Provide basic troubleshooting solutions when problems arise; understand when to leverage engineering and management resources for support

Qualifications & Experience...
• Demo reel submitted with resume that showcases your editing skills
• Experience assisting in a commercial post-production broadcast or social environment
• Must have working knowledge of editing applications including Adobe Premiere
• Showcase an ability to work autonomously with some guidance from the partners and mentorship from associate editors, editors, and senior editors
• Motivation and readiness to collaborate, take on new challenges, bring creative ideas to the table, and shape the 2-years into a beneficial learning experience
• Ability to quickly adapt and pivot based on project deadlines and partners' requests
• Willingness to reach out to others to learn and incorporate feedback from editors, producers, mentors, and managers
• Proficient communication and customer service skills – both written and verbal, high attention to detail, and meticulous organizational skills
• Understand edit room etiquette while collaborating with the edit staff and partners to ensure smooth communication and workflow
• Ability and flexibility to work varying shifts as needed
• Once the 2-year contract concludes, there is no guaranteed promotion.
