WALB-TV is the dominant #1 news station and award-winning NBC / ABC affiliate in Albany, GA. WALB began broadcasting on April 7th, 1954 becoming the flagship TV station of Gray Television. We service more than 40 counties across South Georgia, including two news bureaus in the cities of Tifton and Valdosta.

Job Summary/Description:

WALB is seeking a passionate, creative sports reporter to join our dynamic sports team as Sports MMJ. In this position, you will be required to produce and anchor sportscasts, do live reports as warranted, shoot and edit sports highlights & packages and cover a wide range of sporting events at the high school, college and pro levels.

We have a 3-person sports team and we are NOT a typical local sports department. WALB has a strong commitment to sports coverage; we produce sports programs and specials and push for creativity and innovation. The perfect candidate will be passionate, hard-working, and understand the value of creative editing and shooting, and will have a wide-ranging skill set for production and storytelling. Our sports reporters develop relationships with local coaches and athletes. We have broken the mold of typical studio-driven sportscasts - many of our sports segments are well-produced packages. Qualifications/Requirements:
• At least one year experience as MMJ with some anchoring experience.
• Basic understanding of windows based electronics and the ability to learn ENPS as well as new systems as they are implemented.
• BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background.
• Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.
• Must be willing to work in Albany, GA.
