Scope of Assignment x You

VICE Audio is bringing the cutting edge, award winning documentary reporting of VICE News to your ears. We are looking for seasoned audio producers who can work autonomously to find, pitch, research, report, and produce news features and multi-part audio documentaries.

As a Producer, Audio you will be responsible for researching and reporting narrative features, writing scripts, cutting tape and assembling mixes in Protools, participating in team edits, pre-interviewing and booking guests for host segments, working with the host to produce stories in the field, helping out with other day-to-day planning, problem solving and finally, being part of a dynamic production team. Producers are expected to build stories in Pro Tools using field tape, reporter/host interviews, archive materials and music. Often you will own the ProTools project up to final mix. Experience and enthusiasm with sound design necessary.

Producers will work in close collaboration with a story editor to take stories from conception to completion.

Qualifications

You have these:
• Background in journalism and/or audio storytelling
• Minimum three years experience producing audio for radio or podcast
• Excellent writing skills
• Self-motivated, creative, and organized
• Thrives on field reporting
• Skilled at identifying strong characters, has an eye for detail, always thinking about story
• Fluent in ProTools and keen ear for working with tape
