ABOUT VICE MEDIA GROUP

VICE Media Group is the world's largest independent youth media company. Launched in 1994, VICE has offices in 35 cities across the globe with a focus on five key businesses: VICE.com, an award-winning international network of digital content; VICE STUDIOS, a feature film and television production studio; VICE, an Emmy-winning international television network; a Peabody award-winning NEWS division with the most Emmy-awarded nightly news broadcast; and VIRTUE, a global, full-service creative agency with 21 offices around the world. VICE's content has been recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Peabodys, Golden Globes, Sundance Film Festival, George Polk, Scripps Howard, PEN Center, Cannes Lions, Knight Foundation, American Society of Magazine Editors, LA Press Club, James Beard and Webbys, among others.

VICE x Team
Our Music team is responsible for elevating VICE's already compelling storytelling with carefully crafted music choices and music licensing expertise across our various platforms. We are looking for someone (you!) to support our Music Supervisors and larger music team in the Brooklyn, NY office (currently remote) with both creative and administrative duties. The team atmosphere is highly collaborative, fast paced, and most importantly passionate about all things music.

Role x You

You are a highly organized individual looking to show off your meticulous spreadsheet skills - and who also loves to share their favorite song of the day.

In the short term you'll be ensuring all music licenses are reviewed, fully executed, and paid out by accounting. Reporting to the Music Supervisor, you'll also be responsible for music deliverables, which includes not only music licenses - but especially music cue sheets and making sure everything is correctly reported and organized before submission to various networks. You will also be liaising with performance rights organizations (submitting monthly and quarterly reports, music cue sheets for episodic television content). You will handle various overall music team tasks, including but not limited to tracking license expiration/renewals, updating music contacts and music cue sheet database, as well as maintaining numerous music guides for production.

But after 6 months in this role we see you contributing creatively by assisting in creative pulls for editors and producers, sourcing music from a variety of labels, publishers, and libraries from all around the world, as well as extensively researching music rights ownership.

And after a year you'll grow to work with internal teams directly providing music support across all areas, while also maintaining relationships externally with our music contacts.

Qualifications

You have these:
• Bachelor's degree in Music, Business, Communications, Journalism or related field
• 2+ years of professional experience at Television, Film, Record Label, Music Publisher or Digital Media production companies
• Excellent organizational skills with an extreme attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously under strict deadlines
• Must be able to work in a multi-discipline collaborative environment
• Strong research abilities and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive, proactive, solution-oriented attitude
• Working knowledge of MAC environment
• Must be proficient in Excel and Keynote

We want to find people who believe in our goals and feel inspired enough to grow while they're here to fill the role, rather than someone who checks the boxes but isn't invested. We encourage you to apply and show us what you've got.

If you require reasonable accommodation during the application and selection process, please let us know. We will work together to best meet your needs.
