Overview and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Vice President, Law, with extensive experience in news and media law, transactions and digital distribution. The group works in a fast-paced environment requiring quick and creative thinking, swift and sound risk assessment and fine judgment. The Vice President will work with an experienced team of collegial and dedicated lawyers and will manage and mentor junior lawyers on the team. The Vice President will advise on all aspects of newsgathering, content review and post-publication matters, and will be responsible for contract drafting and review.

Basic Qualifications:
• JD degree with excellent academic credentials; admitted to the New York Bar
• At least 10 years of equivalent experience in news review and media law and/or litigation, and contract drafting and review, in areas such as digital distribution (including streaming), technology and content licensing and production.

• Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters
• Ability to efficiently and effectively handle projects with minimal day-to-day oversight/direction
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing simultaneous projects/deals efficiently under deadline pressure
• Proficiency in performing multiple tasks for a diverse and dedicated client base
