DESCRIPTION:

As the Senior Broadcast Producer, you will work closely with the Executive Producer and Anchor, along with other senior executives, to develop and implement the strategic vision of the CBS Evening News. Each day you will work collaboratively with the EP, Anchor, senior producers, producers and correspondents to determine and carry out the editorial direction for the broadcast, helping to shape the rundown and coordinate the stories that will air that evening. The position requires strong news judgment, in-depth managerial experience and the ability to thrive under pressure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities:
• Help to determine and then implement the day-to-day editorial vision of the broadcast, working with senior producers, producers and correspondents to tell compelling news stories with context and clarity
• Manage all aspects of daily broadcast production, including story selection, guest booking, editing of news packages, live and remote broadcasting, copy writing/editing and graphics
• Manage production teams, scheduling and budgets
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with senior executives, bureau chiefs, desk editors and others to launch pieces and coordinate troop movements
• Work with the Executive Producer and senior producers to schedule future stories, news series and other initiatives
• Foster an environment where creativity, diversity and collaboration are embraced
• Identify and mentor talented staff members, with an eye to helping them grow as journalists and advance in their careers
• Fill-in for the Executive Producer as needed

Required:
• 5-10 years of experience as a senior television news producer, supervising producer or senior broadcast producer at a major broadcast network, cable news network or digital news company
• Demonstrated ability to make editorial decisions under time pressure, while overseeing all aspects of production
• Ability to recognize news stories that have a high potential of becoming compelling television pieces
• Deep knowledge of current events, politics, national and international news
• Exceptional understanding of broadcast and news production
• Experience writing and editing package and live scripts for broadcast television
• Outstanding organizational, time-management and planning skills
• Experience working closely with high profile anchors and correspondents in high-stress environments
• Proven track record of remaining cool and thinking quickly while under pressure
• Previous experience working in and managing a live control room
• In-depth understanding of social media and digital content strategy
• History of working collaboratively across departments with peers and colleagues to advance the interests of a news broadcast
• Must be able to work long hours and/or an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require
• Willingness to travel, often with little notice, for breaking news or to establish remote broadcasts
• A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study is preferred (or equivalent experience)
