Overview

This position is within the London division of Viacom CBS Consumer Products; VNCP, (part of Viacom International Media Networks).

VNCP is a Global organisation, responsible for the management and development of brands through the creation of consumer products and assets for a variety of kid and adult brands including: SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, MTV, South Park and Paramount.

The role of the Art Director focusses on original creative assets & solutions such as Global style guides, logos and direction setting, under the direction of the Senior Art Director, Animation, in collaboration with Global and Regional Teams.

You would be working directly with external design agencies, freelancers and internal designers to deliver creative assets for use across consumer products.

An exceptional creative eye and in-depth understanding of the Global consumer products landscape is key to success, and the proven ability to think outside of the box and strive for innovative creative solutions when delivering against briefs.

You will be required to communicate well and pitch ideas/artwork articulately. With Adobe Creative Suite skills including Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign & the understanding of file formats & processes. Your considered work style will allow for the ability to flex and accommodate work flows and prioritise well to meet key deadlines.

This role requires the ability to build good working relationships across a number of departments. Allowing you to partner successfully with the PD, Franchise, Strategy and Character Art, Editorial, Project Managements Teams, Business & Legal Teams enabling a strong understanding of the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilites

Global Creative Projects

Art Direction
• Working with the Senior Art Director, Animation to deliver creative solutions and assets.
• Push boundaries, think of new innovative ways of interpreting animated properties.
• Deliver all creative stages for projects from mood boards to completion and delivery to the library.
• Create and communicate clear design rules.
• Create of presentation & pitch material GCG & for Franchise.
• Support regional design teams when required via creative solutions and presentations.
• Global and International logo direction in partnership with production check team.
• Clear communication & presentation of artistic direction to internal and external stakeholders including our business partners and Senior Executives.
• Adhere to critical path of projects.
• Align with Franchise & Strategy Teams
• Work closely & in partnership with Character Art, Editorial & Strategy, Project Management and Franchise teams to aid project development.
• Working with & manage Internal designers and tapping in to their creative expertise achieve creative goals.
• Coach and inspire creative team members.
• Researching, building and maintain working relationships with vendors.
• Holding internal designers, agencies and freelance resource accountable to deadlines and design.
• Understand the Global retail landscape and our Partners and Licensees we work with.
• Keeping breadth of consumer products trends, design and Industry.
• Research design trends and directions and artists.
• Understand product development, technical specs and print processes.
• Adobe Creative Suite skills. Some hand on design of assets required.
• The ability to think strategically and plan ahead.
• Time management skills and a flexible work style.
• Considerate of cost saving when devising creative solutions and hiring external vendors.
• As required, review guide process and make recommendations to improve and evolve process as required.
• Business Analysis – Working with Global PD team to provide analysis on asset usage to maximise future asset creation.
• Encourage feedback and review usage of assets.

Role Specific Skills & Attributes
• A high level of education and a keen interest in media & arts. Ideally BA Hons Graphics.
• Art Direction at an International and Global level.
• Mac literate; Adobe Creative Suite; Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Acrobat, Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.
• Experienced working in a creative environment.
• Experienced working with designers, product development and an understanding of retail.
• Technical understanding of file format and delivery.
• Strategic Thinking.
• Work under high pressure.
