UPCG is an independent mini-studio within the infrastructure of UFEG and distribution footprint of NBCU. Our team discovers, acquires and produces a diverse range of quality content across a multitude of genres (film, documentary, music, sports, family, live events & special interest) for global distribution. Its multiplatform sales & distribution footprint includes theatrical, physical home entertainment, digital (transactional, SVOD and AVOD), Linear TV (Free & Pay), as well as consumer products & applications. The business uniquely focuses on managing talents, partnerships, brands and titles across all rights and across their full lifecycle. It is a business rooted in Artists and Repertoire (A&R) culture, driven by relationships, innovation and ambitious growth plans.

The Content Strategy Director position is a rare opportunity in the UPCG team to work across multi-platform rights exploitation of our content to maximise profit. This is an exciting and unique role that provides a central point between the creative, commercial and corporate worlds. This individual will work on models for titles UPCG signs as part of the content pipeline and/or from the outset of an acquisition to develop a suitable content distribution model. The role is responsible for delivering post new release revenue streams across all rights, with a focus on TV, SVOD and Digital, for the global acquisitions slate, over multiple years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Strategy & Lifecycle Management

⦁ Maximise content exploitation globally & deliver post new release revenue streams across all rights, with a focus on TV, SVOD and Digital over multiple years
⦁ Develop and implement global and local distribution strategies with key stakeholders from cross-functional NBCU business lines (TV/Digital, Acquisitions, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Operations)
⦁ Manage and grow UPCG third party sub-distribution business, responsible for negotiating and closing complex licensing agreements and maintain high engagement from external partners
⦁ Work closely with Commercial and Legal teams on deal structures, windowing requirements and rights acquisition strategy

Oversee content pipeline management and planning, responsible for communication of global slate (content information, timings, KSPs and distribution strategies) across NBCU and external partners
⦁ Provide single point of contact, responsible for troubleshooting any asset issues (working closely with the Marketing & Content Delivery teams) & providing proactive solutions including process design/improvement

Oversee process for digital only releases and information flow across the business.
⦁ Drive revenue & promote UPCG titles post new release. Identify opportunities for title/genre library campaigns in order to meet or exceed the budget across all rights revenue streams and second cycle sales
⦁ Develop and trial new business models for distribution/windowing, working with internal stakeholders across NBCU:
- Financial modelling to support release strategies
- Commercial discussions with external stakeholders
⦁ Manage UPCG title trackers, slate decks & scheduling tools:
- Ensure tracking information is accurate and consistently up to date
- Ensure all internal stakeholders across NBCU have information required to maximize external sales
⦁ Design and implement new processes, when necessary, across all NBCU business lines related to UPCG, such as TV and Digital

Non-traditional Growth Plans

⦁ Responsible for growing non-theatrical and festivals distribution of UPCG titles
⦁ Research and provide due diligence at early stage on new business areas outside of UPCG existing expertise
⦁ Identify potential new business / expansion opportunities relevant to UPCG

Business Planning

⦁ Support commercial acquisitions & production team with distribution planning
⦁ Work closely with Marketing and Finance to set, review, and manage the delivery of post new release revenues, over multiple years, applying new business thinking to challenge and grow targets, especially across TV and SVOD platforms

⦁ Good commercial acumen, experience of forecasting and managing P&Ls / budgets effectively
⦁ The ideal candidate will come from a Business Development, Consulting, or Finance background.
