Job Description
Virgin Music Group is the Industry Leading Independent Services division of Universal Music Group, providing a full range of artist & label services on a global basis, including Production, Distribution, Marketing, Promotion, Commercial Marketing, Brand/Synch & Licensing, Lifestyle Marketing, and more.

The Virgin Music Production department manages product planning and production across an array of formats, strategies, and deal types for a variety of artist & label clients by way of VMG & UMG supply chains. Working in collaboration with the wider Virgin Music teams, this leader will drive the team culture and ''white glove'' ethos of how we work with artists, managers and teams through the start and end of a campaign. They will direct a team across all production aspects relating to VMG's ''For Artist'', Affiliate and Store Front repertoire & release schedules, managing product setup and milestone tracking from the onset of campaigns, product suite ideation, planning, scheduling, and catalog management.

How you'll CREATE:
Overall Virgin Music Group Operations:
• Direct and supervise Production Team senior managers, ensuring they are driving day-to-day production operations, performance management, career development and employee relations issues across their direct reports.
• Develop production team processes to improve client experience and relations, working across VMG teams on upcoming release plans, timelines and delivery.
• Optimize communication flows between production, clients and relevant internal teams and stakeholders regarding key operational activities and issue resolution.
• Ensure the production team is managing client and interdepartmental expectations on feasibility of requests, system capabilities and standard operating procedures.
• Manage production label roster assignments across team members.
• Demonstrate good judgement on issues requiring escalation and communicate effectively with internal and external executive teams.
• Create and maintain exceptions management processes that ensure exceptions are deployed only where necessary and for the greatest impact.
• Foster a culture of supply chain mastery and involvement in ongoing system and process evolution.
• Work closely with Department Head on team development, operational and system improvements.
• Work closely with the catalog migration team on incoming label catalogs that will ultimately be handled by the production team.
• Ensure the production team is efficiently troubleshooting and problem solving on production related issues on a granular level.
• Support the production team by pitching in with help and expertise in high pressure situations

Product Setup & Scheduling:
• Management of initial release setup & maintenance processes within VMG and UMG Business Systems – VMG Central and Admin, and UMG Atlas, R2, Legacy, Milestone, DIGS & Release Workspace
• Maintain delivery deadlines across production team managed projects to ensure all content meets the requested street date.
• Ensure all content handled by the production team adheres to VMG or UMG digital content standards, supply chain requirements and best practices
• Advise clients and production team on best practices, guidelines and functionality of supply chain systems for optimal execution of project rollout plans.
• Work in coordination with supply chain and operations teams to address DSP issues on critical projects.
• Manage physical planning, production and timelines in coordination with clients and relevant internal teams.
• Oversee delivery of physical release elements to manufacturing vendors
• Develop relationships with physical production vendors, assist in budgeting & negotiating costs and timelines for special physical packages

• Experience defining SLAs and KPIs and reporting on their performance to leadership
• Articulate in written and oral communication skills with a knack for both personal style and concise operational writing
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building capability - always with a professional demeanor
• Extensive operational experience in a digital supply chain environment required
• Experience with top digital music service interfaces, social media applications, and digital music best practices a major plus
• Extensive knowledge of digital asset specifications (audio, video, etc.) and metadata
• Previous stakeholder involvement in software development processes and lifecycle a major plus
• Capable of engaging with all levels of the organization and third-party labels
• Initiative and curiosity to independently research and investigate new processes and programs and share findings with the larger team
• Ability to maintain good relationships within immediate team while developing a broader range of contacts
• Experience with Monday, Slack, and Airtable and similar tools a plus

Essential:
• Solid technical expertise in production area, up to date with current thinking.
• 5 years of previous production management or similar experience as a Sr.Director level or above, with proven track record building and leading a team of 5 or more
• Stellar organizational, administrative, and analytical skills
